February 11 - 12

This weekend I went to the city of Pavlov, which was a three hour bus ride from Prague on the other side of the Czech Republic.  Saturday evening we visited two wine cellars.  At the first one everyone got to sample nine different types of wine. At the second one we ate dinner and drank more wine.  Sunday morning there was a hike up a mountain which had some castle ruins at the top.  We walked for about six miles, and everyone slept on the bus ride back to Prague.

Today I went to Pilzen, a city about an hour and a half away from Prague.  This city is where they brew the Pilsner Urquell lager, which is the most popular beer in the Czech Republic.  I went on the Pilsner Urquell brewery tour, walked through some old underground tunnels, visited the old church building.

February 8, 2012

Today I woke up at 8:00 and registered with the local police.  This is so they can confirm my visa and have a copy of my passport on record.  In the afternoon two other guys from MSOE and myself wandered around the city for about five hours.  We visited Prague castle and walked across Charlesburg bridge.  Both were pretty cool.  After that we walked down some streets with a lot of shops.  I didn't buy anything because everything was priced for tourists.  I got back and took a nap.  Tonight there's a party at the bar in the basement of the dorms, and I'll probably go to that.
